Traditional "Good Luck Cats"
In Japanese shops and other oriental stores and businesses, you will often see a statue of a cat with a raised paw. It's called Manekin Neko (literally "beckoning cat"). It is traditionally kept in a prominent place in a business or home to attract good luck.
